About Me
Georgia K. James is the alter ego of Kelly Conway, a writer, educator, patient advocate, and die-hard Philadelphia sports fan (yes, even when it’s painful). Her love of stories began early, but her writing journey truly took root in 2011 when she launched her blog, As My Joints Turn: My Autoimmune Soap Opera, a candid chronicle of life with chronic illness. She has since written for health organizations, spoken at medical conferences, and used her voice to build awareness and connection for others living with autoimmune disease.
She began experiencing symptoms of autoimmune arthritis as a teenager in the 1980s but wasn’t officially diagnosed until 2001. Over the years, her diagnosis has shifted—Sjogren’s Syndrome, sero-negative RA, Polyarticular Spondyloarthropathy, and currently, non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis—reflecting the complex nature of autoimmune disease. In addition, she manages thyroid disease, fibromyalgia, renin-deficient hypertension, and disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis (DSAP). Despite these challenges, she has turned her experiences into both creative inspiration and advocacy.

Out of this journey came her chronic romance series. Frustrated by the lack of authentic representation of people living with chronic illness in mainstream romance—where it was too often portrayed as depressing or tragic—Georgia set out to write fun, sexy, heartfelt stories that feature characters managing chronic conditions as part of their reality, not their limitation. Her books aim to show that joy, love, passion, and adventure exist right alongside the challenges of chronic illness.

In addition to this series, she released her first book, Making Lemonade with Georgia Grace, in 2018 and Each Day is a Gift, in 2025. Georgia continues to create stories filled with charm, humor, family bonds, and resilience—qualities she draws on every day.

She lives in Philadelphia with her beloved furry family—cats Jaxon and Milo, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Finni Roux—who all provide daily joy, comfort, and comic relief.
